Walker Royall to develop and invest in commercial real estate opportunities with an emphasis on retail properties. Briarwood Capital Corporation and its Principals have a combined 40+ year’s commercial real estate experience and control a portfolio valued at more than $200M. Briarwood is a well-capitalized firm with access to readily available, internal funds and strong banking relationships. In today’s market, we are focused on “opportunistic” investment and development deals throughout the state of Texas.
Walker is the president and founder of Briarwood Capital Corporation and has more than 25 years experience in the commercial real estate industry. Prior to forming Briarwood, Walker worked for four years in the retail division of the Paragon Group, now a part of CBRE. Based in Dallas, Paragon owned and managed 10M sq ft of commercial property and 28,000 apartments. In 1998 Walker spent a year living in Asia where he served as VP of Acquisitions over more than $200M in non performing loans. In his position as President of Briarwood, he has participated in transactions worth in excess of $600M and developed numerous retail and other commercial properties. Walker is a graduate of Southern Methodist University with a dual degree in Finance and Real Estate. Walker is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Texas, a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a member of the Dads Partnership at the Episcopal School of Dallas. He also serves on the board at the North Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross and is a board member at Oakwood Bank.
Doug joined Briarwood in 2010 as Vice President. Prior to joining Briarwood, Doug spent 5+ years with Armstrong Development as Development Manager. While at Armstrong, Doug performed site selection and developed over 50 CVS pharmacy locations throughout DFW and Oklahoma. He also developed numerous other projects that include such retailers as Chase, Sprouts Farmers Market, Bank of America, McDonald’s and many others. Prior to working for Armstrong Development, Doug worked for Tullett & Tokyo LLC (Tullett Prebon) as a fixed income broker in New York and London. Doug is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, holds a real estate salesman license in the state of Texas and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Will joined Briarwood as an associate in 2018. Prior to joining Briarwood, Will worked at Dallas based Sowell & Company on their residential land development team as an analyst. At Sowell & Company he was responsible for helping drive acquisition strategy through lead generation and market research. A native of St. Louis, MO, Will played division one lacrosse at Providence College before ultimately graduating from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Economics and Mandarin Chinese. Will is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
