A heroic couplet is a pair of rhyming lines in iambic pentameter. He had that large comprehension---oh, not cynical, not at all cynical, in fact rather tender---which was found in its perfection only in some rare, very rare Englishmen. As such, there was a certain degree of fluidity to the exact wording of poems, given this could change from one performance or performer to another.
